Who has it not experienced the annoyance that if the robber is placed on a landscape early in a game and a 7 does not come up again for a while. An important raw material of this landscape becomes blocked. The friendly robber spares all players until more than 2 victory points are possessed.
After the throw 7 or playing a knight card, the robber can not be moved to a landscape on which there is a settlement of a player who has only 2 victory points.
If there are no tiles where the robber can be moved due to this rule, the robber stays on, or returns to, the desert. If a player should possess a settlement on the desert and only has 2 victory points, no raw material card may be taken from him.
Regardless of this rule each player, who possesses more than 7 raw materials when a 7 is thrown, must return half of his raw materials.
This set of cards replaces the dice and offers various events influencing the game.
The deck consists of 36 dice cards to represent the 36 different combinations that can be rolled with 2 dice. This means that number "rolls" are evenly distributed according to its probability. The deck also represents the roll of one die (for use with the Cities and Knights Expansion).
To use the deck separate the "Jahreswechsel" (New Year) card from the rest.
a) Shuffle all 36 of the number cards, separate 5 of them and place face down.
b) Place the New Year card face down on top of the 5 then place the other 31 face down on top of the deck.
c) When you reach the New Year Card, start the procedure all over again from (a).
So 5 cards will not be used.
Explanation of the Cards
Räuberüberfall (Robber 6x"7")
Handle like a normal dice roll of 7.
Seuche (Epidemic "6" & "8")
Every player receives only 1 resource for each city they have.
Cities and Knights: No commodities can be taken this turn.
Erdbeben (Earthquake "6")
Each player turns one of their roads sideways. Players may not build new roads until that damaged road is repaired. Cost of repair is 1 wood and 1 brick. The damaged road still counts towards longest road.
Gute Nachbarschaft (Good Neighbourhood "6")
Each player gives the player to their left 1 resource (Giver's choice) if they have one.
Cities and Knights: A commodity may be given.
Ritterturnier (Knights Tournament "5")
The player(s) with the most active knight cards or the one who has the Largest Army gets 1 resource of their choice.
Cities and Knights: Commodity may not be chosen.
Handelsvorteil (Commercial Advantage "5")
The player with the longest road may take one random resource card from any one player.
Cities and Knights: May not be a Progress card.
Ruhige See (Calm Sea "9" & "12")
The player with the most ports gets to pick a resource of their choice. Cities and Knights: Cannot choose a commodity.
Rückzug des Räubers (Retreat of the Robber 2x"4")
Put the robber back on the desert. No cards may be drawn from any players who have settlements or cities on the desert.
Nachbarschaftshilfe (Neighbourhood Assistance "10" & "11")
The player with the most victory points gives each player with less VP's 1 Resource (giver's choice)
Cities and Knights: A commodity card may be given.
Konflikt (Conflict "3")
The player with the most knight cards displayed or the one who has the Largest Army takes one random resource card from any one player.
Cities and Knights: The player with highest total active knights takes the card. (No progress cards)
Ertagreiches Jahr (Productive Year "2")
Each player may take one resource of their choice.
Cities and Knights: Cannot take a commodity card
Number only card 3, 4, 2x5, 2x6, 4x8, 3x9, 2x10, 11
Settlers are industrious, Catan is prosperous. There is no event.
Jahreswechsel (New Year)
Shuffle all of cards. Place this card on top of 5 of the cards face down. Place the other 31 cards face down on top of the deck. Draw a new card.
